Datacloud Awards Asia 2017

Data Center Asia Leadership Award (Award will be given by the Judges Panel)

This Award will be given by the Judges Panel to the leader of a company nominated for one of the other Awards.

Excellence in Data Center Service Asia Award

Nominate

Data center services and infrastructure are the essential enabler for all businesses. Service providers offering data infrastructure are gaining significant credibility offering dedicated services providing IT flexibility and scalability. The capability to host business applications and services is highly dependent upon the ability to deliver innovative infrastructure offerings, service wrappers and solution integration.

The judges are looking to identify a business that provides excellence in data center services and infrastructure. The Award will recognize a Company, Internal Division or functional team with a demonstrable track record established in the last 18 months that can be used as an exemplar to the global data center industry.

Criteria:

How do your data center services deliver excellence? Provide evidence/examples
What makes your operation innovative or market leading?
What benefits do your customers achieve in using your excellent data center services?

Data Center Technical Breakthrough Award

Nominate

The Data Center Technical Breakthrough Award seeks to recognise innovation in data center design and deployment or in operation. The technological breakthrough may not necessarily be new technology, (for example, Adiabatic cooling is 4,000 year old technology), but must be used in a way that is new to the organisation. The breakthrough may be engineering, software or any other technology that meets the criteria.

Criteria:

The technological breakthrough must have brought demonstrable benefit in either customer experience, operational savings or increased availability. The benefits must be fully explained.
The technology must be new to the organisation and the way in which it has been introduced, which must be within the last 12 months, must be explained.
The technological breakthrough must have been conceived by the organisation, and not by a third party, and the outcome of its introduction must have been planned and foreseen.

Data Center Above and Beyond Award

Nominate

This award recognises an individual (or a team of individuals) who has gone that bit further for their company and/or their customers. The scope is very broad: eligible entrants could have delivered a difficult project to time and budget or added value to a service over and above that envisaged in the contract. Alternatively they might have demonstrated initiative in the face of adversity, helped to prevent or mitigate the impacts of a disaster of some kind or had the persistence and commitment to stick with something through thick and thin until they saw it through. Their achievement could have been played out on a small stage - eg for a single site SME - or a large one – for a global corporate.

In summary, the Judges are looking for a person (or team) who has risen to a challenge of some kind and demonstrated dedication, initiative and leadership beyond the call of duty.

Criteria:
The judges anticipate that entrants will provide some context and describe briefly how the challenge came about and then they will mark submissions against three specific criteria.
The three criteria against which your submission will be marked are:

How did you go about it? What did you do?
In what way did your actions go beyond the call of duty? How did you demonstrate leadership, innovative thinking or initiative?
What was the outcome? What difference did you make? Although not a requirement, do include feedback if you are able to share it.

Excellence in Cloud Service Asia Award

Nominate

This award recognises proven achievements and innovations in the launch of cloud services to users across any geography, but with a major footprint in Asia. Any cloud service is eligible - regardless if it is private, hybrid or public. Here are many views of what constitutes a cloud as long as it delivers cloud-scale impact for the users and permanent uptime user experience. This award does not seek to define cloud but to recognise achievements and thought leadership in the development and operation of excellent cloud services.

Criteria:

What is excellent about your cloud service that you are able to cloud-scale and deliver permanent uptime since you launched it? Provide evidence / examples.
What was the demand that your cloud service was designed to fulfil? How does it scale? Why is it different from other cloud services?
This award recognises thought leadership as well as achievement. How can you deliver this aspiration with your cloud service?

Cloud Technical Breakthrough Award

Nominate

The Judges are seeking the best of the best cloud technology, products, applications, prototypes, and projects that deliver “breakthrough” customer benefits. The Award highlights the most innovative game changing products and applications available today, prototypes coming soon, and projects in the making.

Criteria:

Describe the unique innovation provided by the product, application, prototype or project.
Demonstrate the quantifiable benefits
Does the technology have the potential to reach a significant market? Explain how.

Cloud Above and Beyond Award

Nominate

ICT technological advances for digital enterprises to be created. This requires a new breed of cloud services that are able to cloud scale, regardless if we talk about private, hybrid or public clouds. This award recognises individuals or teams who have gone that bit further for their company and/or their customers to cloud scale. The scope is very broad: eligible entrants could have delivered a difficult cloud project to time and budget or added value to a cloud service or SaaS enablement over and above that envisaged in the contract.

Alternatively they might have demonstrated initiative in the face of adversity, helped to prevent or mitigate the impacts of a disaster of some kind or had the persistence and commitment to stick with something through thick and thin until they saw it through. Their achievement could have been played out on a global cloud offering or a small stage in the cloud too.

In summary, we are looking for someone who has risen to a challenge of some kind and demonstrated dedication, initiative and leadership beyond the call of duty.

What have been the key issues and challenges? How did you overcome these?
How did you took the lead?
What results were achieved?

Upcoming Cloud Service Provider Award

Nominate

Cloud services are being developed at an increasing rate globally, delivering cloud-scale impact. This award is designed to recognise a Cloud Service Provider, offering private, hybrid or public cloud services since the past 18 months. The award will be given to Cloud Service Provider that demonstrates innovation, awareness of its community impact, integrated thinking and can show how the cloud services developed meet current and future needs at cloud scale.

Criteria:

What innovations have you introduced/are you introducing to deliver cloud scale? What´s new?
Explain how your cloud services accommodate changing IT needs and create an impact in your business community?
Explain why you believe your cloud services should win this award. Why is it special?

New Sector Awards

Innovative Data Center Location Award

Nominate

This award recognizes the importance of location in the evaluation of data center investment. This award is open to all agencies or regional/local authorities or other relevant bodies within the Asia region, managing inward investment focused on data centers and cloud. Candidates should be able to demonstrate innovation during the past year, facilitating ease of process, connectivity and power, and promotion of good practice. In short, candidates should be able to show that they have taken innovative steps to provide an environment in which data centre operators and cloud services providers can flourish.

Criteria:

Explain why data center/cloud investment is part of the strategic planning for your location.
Identify what innovations have been implemented in the past twelve months for data center and cloud development in the location. Approaches could relate to physical infrastructure, available skills, energy, taxation, etc.
Demonstrate why the location is uniquely competitive.

Innovative Energy Solution Award

Nominate

Although much has been achieved, energy efficiency and sustainable energy usage are still one of the most important goals for a data centre both from a business and an environmental perspective.

The judges are looking to identify a business that has significantly demonstrated the use of a disruptive energy innovation.

This innovation could be a new technology, a new way of applying existing technology, or an original or inventive approach to solving energy problems within the data centre environment. The scope is therefore quite broad and includes both technology and process.

The award will recognise a facility, a team or an individual with a demonstrable track record of implementing an innovative approach during the last 12 months.

Ideally the initiative should be capable of providing an exemplar of innovation in energy management to the global datacentre industry.

Criteria:

What were the challenges faced and how were they overcome?
Describe briefly the innovation achieved and best in class processes used in driving energy efficiency that resonates across the entire sector because of its impact.
Demonstrate why the energy solution is fundamentally different from others and its environmental benefits.

Excellence in Connectivity for Data Centers Award

Nominate

This award recognizes the critical impact that ultra-high scale, ultra-high availability connectivity has in today’s cloud market in a data center environment. With data demands mushrooming almost exponentially, the ability to scale with user demand is vital. This capability must be matched by very high levels of service reliability and availability – all at an economic cost that delivers excellence to the user. Judges will consider real-world, cutting edge, high-scale, high availability connectivity for data centers that has delivered an outstanding and innovative impact during the past 12 to18 months to target users locally, regionally or internationally with a footprint in Asia.

Eligible solutions can be delivered by providers including cable, dark fibre, data centre, system integrators, IXPs and licensed public operators.

Criteria:

Provide evidence of quantifiable, proven ability to deliver innovative, ultra-high scale connectivity demanded by today’s cloud users
Describe how you meet or exceed the most stringent user demand for availability and latency
Demonstrate the delivery of excellent business effectiveness, cost effectiveness, business agility and high levels of customer experience to users

Most Innovative Deployment of IoT Award

Nominate

The purpose of this award is to recognise an organisation that has, through the deployment of IoT, brought benefit either to their own organisation or to their customers. The IoT may not be restricted to the data centre and may be deployed elsewhere in the organisation.

Criteria:

The innovation using the IoT must bring demonstrable benefit to either the organisation or its customers. This must be described.
The innovation must be new and unique to the organisation. The innovation and its deployment must be fully described.
Describe how the innovation qualifies as IoT and why IoT was the most appropriate way in which to realise the benefit.
